This is also a very significant day for Sikhs. It was on this day that Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth. The principles of Shri Guru Sahib are commemorated on this day. This celebration teaches us about unity and courage.

Baisakhi is an important festival observed with immense zeal and fervour. On this day, people wake up early in the morning and bathe in sacred water sources or lakes before wearing new clothes and going to the gurudwaras to show their respects. Special prayers (ardas) and kirtan sessions are conducted in gurudwaras, followed by the distribution of kada prasad among the devotees.

The farmers of Punjab give thanks to God in happiness for harvesting their mature Rabi crop. Dances such as bhangra and gidda are performed by people on this day. Fairs are held all around. People participate widely in langar and have fun on this occasion with dishes like curry-rice or sweet rice.
