TCS Nashik Harassment Case: The Nashik office of BPO company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has come under the scanner after eight employees alleged sexual harassment and forced religious conversion. The IT company on Sunday terminated seven of the eight accused stating that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form.

Among the eight accused is the HR manager, who allegedly did not address the complain raised by one of the aggrieved employees. She is yet to face action from the company and is currently in police remand. The other seven employees were terminated after their arrest on April 7.

All About The TCS Harassment Case

The case came to light after one of the women employees approached the police on March 26. She filed a complaint at the Devlali police station against one of her seniors, whom she accused of rape. During investigation, eight other employees came forward to lodge complaints of sexual harassment at Mumbai Naka police station. One the victims was a male who alleged harassment on the basis of religion.

So far eight FIRs have been registered between March 26 and April 3. The accused have been booked under sections 69 (rape), 75 (sexual harassment), and 299 (deliberate acts to outrage religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Devlali police station. Those booked at the Mumbai Naka police station face charges under sections 78 (stalking), 79 (outraging modesty through inappropriate gestures), and 299 (outraging religious feelings).

Those arrested include Asif Ansari, Shah Rukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Danish Sheikh, and a woman whose identity has not been revealed.

How Police Busted TCS Nashik Case

The police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the complaints lodged by the eight TCS employees. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the police had received a "tip-off about the notorious acts of six employees in early February this year". The police deployed seven women officers, who went undercover to monitor the activities of the accused at the BPO office, NDTV reported.

The accused, who was mistreating the women and behaving inappropriately during a meeting, was reportedly caught in the act by the police officers. Over 40 CCTV footage clips are being examined to gather evidence against the accused.

What Did TCS Say

The company, in a statement, said, "TCS has a long-standing zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form. We have always ensured the highest standards of safety and well-being of our employees at the workplace. As soon as we were made aware of the matter in Nashik, we took swift action."

The employees being investigated have been suspended pending enquiry, the company's spokesperson said, adding that the firm is cooperating with local law enforcement authorities and any further action will be based on the conclusion of this investigation.
