RCB vs MI IPL 2026: It was a sad day for all the music lovers worldwide on Sunday as the legendary Indian singer Asha Bhonsle had passed away at 92 years of age. Anand, who is Asha's son, had himself confirmed this news. Once this news broke, tributes began pouring in from all walks of life, as legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli also paid their respects on their social media accounts. Both the Mumbai Indians and the reigning champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, paid their tributes by wearing black armbands during their IPL 2026 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

When the MI skipper, Hardik Pandya, and the RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar, came for the toss, they were seen wearing black armbands. After the match started, players from both teams were spotted wearing black armbands on their jerseys. To pay their tribute to Asha Bhosle, a one-minute silence was also observed at the stadium before the game even started.

Talking of both MI and RCB, the host won the toss and chose to bowl first. They made two changes to their playing XI, with the Bengaluru-based franchise including Jacob Duffy in place of Josh Hazlewood.

What did Sachin and Virat say?

Sachin Tendulkar took to his official X account to pay tribute to Asha Bhosle, emphasizing that her passing is being seen as a 'sad day' for music fans worldwide.

The heart falls silent, then drifts through her countless melodies," Sachin wrote on X. feels as though time itself has paused. Yet through her eternal songs, she will remain timeless forever. Thank you, Tai, for filling our lives with warmth, grace, and unforgettable music. We will miss you beyond words, Asha Tai,” he said.

Kohli too posted a picture of the legendary singer on his official Instagram account and said her voice touched many people worldwide.

“Rest "Rest in peace, Asha Bhosle ji. Your voice touched millions and will live forever in our hearts. Om Shanti," Virat Kohli posted on Instagram. " She was considered one of the world's legendary singers, and her contributions to both music and the film industry were considered unmatchable. She was seen as the only contemporary of her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar in the Hindi film industry.

Her son had already revealed that her last rites will be held on Monday, 13th April.
