HOW VIRAT KOHLI PLAYED AGAINST MI

Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings, helping the Bengaluru-based franchise post a mammoth target of 240 runs. They had surpassed their own tally of posting the mammoth target in Mumbai, having earlier scored 235 runs against the same opponent during IPL 2015.

While playing as an opener, Kohli batted cautiously, ensuring the team made the most of the powerplay, scoring 70 runs without losing a wicket alongside Phil Salt. They stitched a brilliant partnership of 120 runs for the first wicket and had set the foundation of a mammoth target.

Kohli looked at his absolute best as he used his wristwork brilliantly. His pick up six during Trent Boult's over was the highlight of his knock, along with a few fours that he smashed as the ball went towards the off-side.

He batted carefully against spinners and rotated strikes brilliantly during Mitchell Santner and Mayank Markande's over and made sure that the scoreboard was ticking. He also took advantage of a few loose balls and smashed a brilliant four in Shardul Thakur's over.

But his entire knock didn't go as planned, as he took some time to bring up his half-century, which showed his restrained approach. When he was about to bat aggressively, Hardik Pandya took his wicket by bowling a full toss. Although Kohli might not be at his free-flowing best, Rajat Patidar's record-breaking half-century off 53 balls made sure that they posted a target of more than 200 runs.
