MI vs RCB IPL 2026: Virat Kohli and Phil Salt attacked relentlessly, dismantling the Mumbai Indians' bowlers and giving RCB a blistering start in Mumbai on Sunday. The opening pair forged a commanding 120-run partnership for the first wicket, establishing the groundwork for a formidable target.
Salt spearheaded the batting attack by scoring a brilliant knock of 78 runs off 36 balls, whereas Kohli played the role of a second fiddle.
It was the Bengaluru-based franchise's second-highest opening partnership against MI in the history of the tournament, as Kohli and Faf Du Plessis had put on 148 for the first wicket during IPL 2023.
In his knock, Kohli also achieved another feat as he had stitched his 47th hundred-run partnership in the shortest format, and this was the most by any batter in T20S.
He also surpassed Babar Azam's record of 46 such partnerships and has also broken the records of cricketers like Chris Gayle (46), David Warner (45), and Faf Du Plessis (40).
Kohli did get out after smashing his half-century as Hardik Pandya took his wicket after giving his team a flying start.

Kohli, who has been playing for this franchise since the first season in 2008, has yet again shown his worth as a top-order batter.
The Rajat Patidar-led side is the reigning champion, having won its maiden title last year by defeating the Punjab Kings in the summit clash.
