Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the G7 summit in France on Tuesday. He met world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Donald Trump, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, among others. But what caught the attention of social media more was his brief interaction with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.
The two world leaders were spotted sharing giggles while discussing the Instagram craze over their 'Melodi gift' reel that broke the internet last month. The two prime ministers often make headlines with their meetings.
PM Meloni greeted PM Modi with, "Nice to see you again" during a family group photo at the G7 event at France's Evian ahead of the summit.
“Nice to see you again. We are the most famous on Instagram.” 😄🇮🇹🇮🇳

During the conversation, the prime minister asked her whether she saw Instagram. Reacting to it, PM Meloni quipped, "Yeah, we are the most famous on Instagram."
The two leaders were discussing a viral video of PM Modi gifting her a packet of Parle's Melody chocolate during his visit to Italy last month.
The video garnered over 276 million views and 13.2 million likes on Instagram. The video was shared by the Italian PM on the social media platform, with a caption, "Thank you for the gift."
The 'Melodi' trend started on social media after the two leaders' first meeting in 2023. However, in November of the same year, PM Meloni posted a picture of her with PM Modi from COP28 with the hashtag #Meloni on Instagram, which made the moniker of 'Meloni and Modi' extremely popular.
