Significance of Muharram
Muharram is regarded as among the four holy months in Islam, during which fighting is prohibited. The 1st day of Muharram marks the start of the Islamic year 1448 AH. Additionally, Ashura Day holds great importance as it is the 10th day of Muharram, which will be marked on June 25 in 2026. The day marks the martyrdom day of Imam Hussein at Karbala for Shia Muslims; Sunni Muslims commonly observe fasting on this day.
