''It is a very bad situation. Because of corruption in this government, especially across various sectors — particularly in the Home Ministry and in the transfer of police officers — law and order is deteriorating day by day. What happened yesterday in Dharwad, the alleged murder of a Congress worker by another Congress worker, as reported by some online media, itself shows that law and order is not being maintained properly. The government should treat this as a high priority. Moreover, the cases being described as 'love jihad' are also being raised as a serious concern for society," he added.

On the motive behind the killing, the Commissioner said it is yet to be established. "That is yet to be ascertained. But the complainant and the family members of the deceased say that they had a rivalry with the accused. We'll ascertain the exact cause," he said.
Police have launched an investigation, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the assailants.
