UP Weather: Unseasonal rainfall amid intensifying summer heat has drawn mixed reactions across North India. While residents are welcoming the sudden drop in temperatures, the changing weather has become a cause of concern for farmers. The shift has impacted several states like Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh including Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh, in particular, has been witnessing fluctuating weather patterns. On Wednesday, rain accompanied by strong winds lashed more than 55 districts, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. Temperatures dipped sharply across regions, with Gorakhpur recording a significant fall of 10 degrees Celsius, as the maximum temperature dropped to 25.5 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the spell of rain will continue on Thursday, with over 60 districts likely to receive showers. The department attributed the conditions to a western disturbance and an active weather system, which are expected to keep the skies cloudy and trigger light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms in several areas. Hailstorms may also occur in more than two dozen districts.

Both eastern and western parts of the state are expected to experience strong winds along with rainfall. Alerts have also been issued for lightning and thunderstorms in certain regions. The ongoing weather activity is likely to further bring down temperatures, offering temporary respite from the heatwave-like conditions.
For the past couple of days, intermittent rainfall has been recorded in various parts of the state, resulting in cooler weather. Several cities, including Lucknow, have remained under cloud cover since morning, with cool winds adding to the relief.
In Lucknow, the maximum temperature dropped by around eight degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius. The current weather pattern is expected to persist for the next 24 hours, after which conditions may gradually improve, with clear skies and sunshine likely to return from Friday.
