Jagran Correspondent | Lakhimpur: Three people died and three others suffered severe injuries after a car rammed into a trolley in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri on Tuesday. The accident occurred during the early hours of morning near Charpala on National Highway-30.
The deceased people belonged to the same family. They are identified as Vimal Singh (40), his wife, Vandana Singh Patel (20), residents of Mohalla Shastri Nagar, District Sultanpur, and his niece Aalikya Verma (22), resident of village Raipur, Police Station Dostpur, District Sultanpur. A total of six people were present inside the vehicle. The injured people are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. They were identified as Ruby (15), her brother, Veer Patel(14), son of Vimal Singh, along with Vimal Singh's brother-in-law, Ayush Singh (27), son of Ramnivas, resident of village Khandwari, police station Banua, district Sultanpur.
How Did The Accident Occur
Vimal Singh, a resident of Shastri Nagar in Sultanpur district, had set out with his family on a weekend trip to Haridwar on Saturday. Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, his car rear-ended an overloaded salt trolley near Chaprala.
The car was not just shattered but was also trapped in the trolley, dragging it for nearly four kilometres, from Jahanikheda to Chaprala. Later, a motorist overtook the car and informed the tractor driver. The terrified tractor then abandoned the trolley and fled the area. The injured were immediately shifted to the Pasgwan Community Health Centre. However, it was too late; the doctors declared three of the patients dead after examination. After receiving first aid, the three were transferred from the Pasgwan Community Health Center to Shahjahanpur.

Investigations Underway
Investigating the case, Sanjeev Kumar Singh, SHO, Magalaganj, said, "The cause of the accident is under investigation. Preliminary investigations are being conducted into the cause of the accident, including speeding and the driver dozing off. Both vehicles are in police custody. Further legal action will be taken upon receipt of a complaint from the family."
