Naidunia Correspondent, Agar Malwa | The much-talked-about police action under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act in Rajasthan's Jhalawar has now come under scrutiny. A court in Rajasthan's Chaumhala ordered the registration of an FIR against approximately 90 police personnel, including two station house officers (SHOs). The court action followed the allegation that the drug seizure was illegal and fraudulent.

The accused party filed a complaint in court regarding the police action, after which the Chaumhala court in Jhalawar district considered the matter serious and issued strict orders to register an FIR against errant cops.

FIR Registered In Dag Police Station

After the court order, a case has been registered at the Dag police station in Rajasthan against TI Shashi Upadhyay of Kotwali police station in Agar Malwa district, TI Rupsingh Rajput of Baroud police station, SI Rakhi Gurjar, ASI Ajay Jat, police officers Rahul Vishwakarma and Shubham, and other police officers and individuals.

What Is The Matter?

According to the counter FIR, the entire drug seizure operation led by MP Police was fraudulent and against procedure. The court ruling has raised serious questions about the police's functioning, actions, and investigation methods. It's worth noting that in January 2026, the Agar Malwa Kotwali police claimed a major operation, claiming to have seized MD drugs, chemicals, and machinery worth crores of rupees.

Earlier on January 28 this year, the Agar Kotwali police raided Ghatakhedi village in the Dag police station area of Jhalawar district, Rajasthan and claimed to have seized MD drugs worth approximately Rs 5 crore. The then SP of Agar Malwa, Vinod Singh, had praised the police team for this action and called it a major achievement against drug abuse.

Now, the court has made serious comments about the same action. Asgar Ali, the plaintiff's lawyer, stated that the court's decision clearly demonstrates that the police failed to perform their duties properly. Station House Officer Shashi Upadhyay has stated that he will appeal this court order in a higher court.
