A 22-year-old NEET-UG aspirant in Rajasthan's Sikar has died by suicide on Tuesday. This is the second suicide that has surfaced within a month after the NEET-UG 2026 paper got leaked and was later cancelled. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, since then, has faced intense scrutiny regarding the negligence.

The police claimed that the deceased student was a resident of Jhunjhunu district. He was scheduled to appear for the NEET re-examination on June 21. This year was his third attempt.

What Does Suicide Note Say

The investigating officer, identified as Rajesh Kumar Budania, claimed that the student stayed in a rented apartment in Sikar. His father works in Mumbai and had rented the flat for the children's education. On Monday morning, the student returned to Sikar from his native village to visit his mother. When his siblings returned home, they found him hanging from a noose.

The cops recovered a suicide note from the aspirant's room, which read, 'I am going far away.' I don't know where I am going. Sorry..." Police suspect the student was under severe mental stress due to having to take the exam for the third time and having the paper cancelled.

Previous Suicide Case In Sikar

This is not an isolated case; just a few days ago, another 22-year-old student committed suicide in Sikar. He too was preparing for NEET for the third time and was a very good student. His family reported that he was in deep shock and stress after the exam was cancelled on May 12th.

Police are currently investigating the case, and the body has been sent for a postmortem. This incident has once again raised serious questions about the mental health of students preparing for competitive exams and the shortcomings of the system.

Why Has The Re-Examination Been Scheduled?

On May 3, the National Testing Agency conducted the NEET UG 2026 examination in around 551 cities across the country. However, they discovered that the exam paper had already been distributed on some mobile phones two days before the exam (May 1). Following this second consecutive NEET exam fraud, the investigation was transferred to the CBI, and the exam is now being reconducted on June 21.
