Noida Protests: On Monday morning, chaos unfolded across Noida sectors as hundreds of employees demanding a salary hike took to the streets in protest. Gathering in large numbers near Sector 60 and 62, the workers blocked the main road, raising slogans and disrupting regular traffic, jagran.com reported.

During the protests, vehicles and property were vandalised in Noida's Phase 2. Stones were pelted and vehicles was set on fire. The protest was carried out by people working in a Noida-based company. They have been demanding salary increases for quite some time now.

The road blockade has led to severe traffic congestion, causing inconvenience for office-goers. It being a busy Monday morning, commuters travelling from Noida Sector 60 are facing long delays and gridlocks.

The violent protests come after a meeting was held in the Noida Authority to maintain industrial peace, in which the Principal Secretary (Labour) and Labour Commissioner, UP, participated virtually and discussed topics including the protection of workers' interests, double payment for overtime, bonus, weekly holidays, and workplace safety.

What Did Noida Entrepreneurs Association Say On Protests?
The industrial organisation Noida Entrepreneurs Association said that after a meeting with the authority, police, administration, and labour department, all factory owners were persuaded to resume work immediately on seven points. The entrepreneurs also gave their consent, but since Sunday was a holiday, the employees planned this protest on Monday. Employees of Madrasan, Laxmi Remote, located in Phase 2, and Sahu Export, located in Phase 3, participated in this protest.
Upon receiving information about the unrest, police officials promptly reached the spot. Additional Police Commissioner Rajiv Narayan Mishra stated that adequate force has been ensured in the industrial unit areas of Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate. Police and senior administrative officials are present at all locations. The situation is being closely monitored. Police and senior administrative officials are continuously persuading workers to maintain peace and restraint. Peace is being maintained using minimal force. Authorities have urged people to not spread rumours.
