A 27-year-old Delhi-based IT professional, P Radha Gayatri, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a private homestay in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, just two days after she checked in with her husband for a vacation.

The deceased, P Radha Gayatri, was found dead at Kiana Homestay, where she had checked in with her husband, Soumya Sharan, a fellow IT professional. The couple, both residents of Delhi, had arrived in Mussoorie on June 14 and were staying in a room when the incident occurred. 

Post-Mortem Report

A team of doctors performed the post-mortem on the deceased at Coronation Hospital, Dehradun. As per SSP Pramod Singh Dobal, the post-mortem found no signs of attack, violence or injury on the dead body of the woman, and further investigations are being made to ascertain the cause of death.

According to the officials, the viscera samples of the body have been collected and sent for chemical analysis to establish if any toxic substance or poison caused the death. Police confirmed that only the viscera report will establish the actual cause of death.

Officials Seal Homestay Room

Investigators have also sealed the homestay room and collected all items from the scene, including beverage remains, used items, and other evidence, which have been sent for forensic examination. Officials said every object recovered from the room is being scientifically analysed to reconstruct the sequence of events.

What Happened At The Homestay

The incident took place at the Kiana Homestay in Tipridhar along the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road, where the couple had checked into a room named “Bliss” late on Sunday night. Police said the couple had travelled from Delhi via Rishikesh and stayed together in the same room.

According to the husband, they had spent time together late into the night and consumed alcohol. He said that when he woke up in the morning, he found his wife unconscious.

"The body of the deceased was found on the floor without clothes, and bloodstains were observed on the bedsheet. Two empty liquor bottles and food items were recovered from the room," the police said in a statement.

The woman’s father, P Sudhakar, has raised suspicion over the circumstances surrounding the death and demanded a detailed investigation. Following this, police have launched a multi-level probe into the case and clarified that it is not being treated as a routine death.

Police Probe Underway

Police stated that the circumstances inside the room before the death are being closely examined, including whether any external factors contributed to the incident. The investigation is being carried out from all possible angles.

Authorities have reiterated that the case remains open and will be clarified only after the post-mortem, viscera report, and forensic findings are fully examined.
