A sudden cloudburst lashed Tulail valley in Gurez region of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday evening, triggering instant flash floods in the area, which left residents in a panic-like situation. The cloud burst triggered a panic-like situation in the area and caused damage to the house and farmland.

The officials said the high-intensity cloudburst has resulted in the inundation of houses and farmland as flash floods entered the residential structures with gushing water and muck. The rising water levels had residents fleeing in panic to safe zones.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Tulail Javed Ahmed said that both houses and agricultural lands have been damaged in the affected village. After the incident, Revenue officials and district administration officials reached the spot to survey the damage and oversee the situation. 

People have requested swift help from the administration and compensation for damages caused by a natural disaster. The official said the assessment survey is being conducted, and necessary support will be provided for affected families.

JK IMD Weather Update 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that generally unstable weather conditions prevailed over Jammu and Kashmir, where there was significant clouding and rain activity over many districts.

The IMD has stated that several regions in the Kashmir division are registering temperatures just below normal with persistent light to moderate rain and thundershower activities across the area.

The forecasts suggest there will be continued potential for thundershowers and isolated rainfall in the higher reaches, with north Kashmir regions like Bandipora and Gurez witnessing them in the coming days, which could pose a localised risk of landslides and floods.
