Delhi Traffic Advisory: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for commuters following protests by private factory workers in the Delhi-Noida border areas. As per the Delhi Traffic Police, key roads in Noida are severely affected. Workers have completely blocked Noida Link Road coming from Chilla Border (Delhi). Traffic movement towards Noida from the Chilla Border is severely affected.
The police have urged commuters to use DND for travelling to Noida. Traffic intending to go to Noida may use DND from Sarai Kale Khan or alternatively use NH 24 - Kondli Bridge and enter Noida through Noida Mod.
Traffic snarls in East Delhi, with workers protesting in Noida Sector 14 leaving vehicles stranded from Mayur Vihar to Chilla.
East Delhi Traffic Impacted
Traffic in East Delhi collapsed on Monday, with a massive traffic jam stretching from Mayur Vihar Phase 1 to the Chilla border. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, workers blocked the road at several points near Noida Sector 14 without prior notice, halting vehicular traffic towards the Chilla border. This had a direct impact on the Delhi side, and long queues of vehicles formed all the way to Mayur Vihar Phase 1.
To streamline traffic, police have set up diversions toward the DND Flyway and NH-24 (Ghazipur). Police officers on the scene are manually controlling traffic, but the jam is causing significant inconvenience to residents.
What Exactly Happened In Noida Today
Employees across various industrial zones in Noida staged a violent protest demanding a wage hike on Monday. Five vehicles - including two police jeeps, were set ablaze. The protest, which began at a factory in Sector 1 at 7:30 AM, gradually spread to several other locations, including Phase 1, Sector 60, Sector 62, and Sector 63. As the demonstrations intensified, traffic congestion on highways and expressways worsened during the morning office rush.
A similar protest regarding wage hikes took place last week in the Manesar industrial area, where the government-mandated wage increase was subsequently implemented.
