A strange case came to light after a drunk doctor was intercepted by the Hyderabad police and two flipping number plates were discovered in the same car. The doctor, identifying as Gautham Reddy, was driving a BMW when he was caught by the police. The police carried out a routine check in Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills on Saturday night.
While conducting the check, the team asked him to take the breathalyzer test; he swiftly changed his number plate with a remote control. The doctor had made a fool-proof plan to get away without getting caught. One of the number plates was registered in Telangana—'TS9FQ9999,' while the other had a Delhi registration—'DL6CM7097'.

A Movie-Like Setup
The luxury vehicle carried a button-operated flip number plate system, allowing the driver to switch between two different registration plates within seconds to mislead surveillance cameras and avoid e-challans. This move was similar to James Bond's Aston Martin car action, which has been featured in movies like Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die.

The police stated that the Telangana number plate was traced back to another vehicle linked to the accused. The team believes that the act was a deliberate attempt to deceive enforcement systems.
"Avoiding fake number plates isn't new, but this kind of advanced setup is rare. It appears to be a calculated attempt to dodge penalties and mislead digital surveillance," NDTV quoted an officer as saying.
According to the police, the modification was made at a private car decor unit, and inquiries are going on to identify the other people who are involved in such fraudulent activities. The decor unit will also face some legal constraints.
According to officials, the doctor's blood alcohol content was also much higher than permitted, at 137 mg compared to 30 mg/100 ml.

He was then charged with impersonation and cheating in addition to driving while intoxicated under the Motor Vehicles Act. Officials stated that the BMW has been impounded for additional investigation.
Separate Case
In a separate case, a Judicial Magistrate First Class has sentenced a city resident to undergo three years of rigorous imprisonment for driving a car with fake registration number plates. An FIR against the convict, Saravdeep Singh, was registered for offences punishable under sections 188 (disobedience of orders given by public servants), 471 (using a forged document), and 473 (possessing counterfeit seals or plates) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) by the Sector 3 Police Station House Officer on April 10, 2020, on the complaint of a cop.
