Delhi EV Policy 2026: The Delhi government on Saturday released the draft of the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026, taking a significant step toward promoting electric vehicles and curbing air pollution. The Rekha Gupta-led government asked all stakeholders, including the general public, to submit their feedback and comments via emails and posts within 30 days on the draft of the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026. The draft policy, uploaded on the official website of the Transport Department and applicable till 2030.

"All stakeholders, including the general public, are invited to submit their feedback/comments within 30 days from the date of publication through the following modes: By e-mail: evpolicy2026@gmail.com and by post: Joint Commissioner (EV), Transport Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, 5/9 Underhill Road, Delhi- 110054," it said.

All electric cars with an ex-showroom price of Rs 30 lakh or less registered in the national capital will be granted 100 per cent exemption on road tax and registration fees till 31 March 2030, according to the Delhi government's new draft electric vehicle (EV) policy released on Saturday.

The draft Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026-2030, uploaded on the transport department's website, also proposes a 50 per cent exemption for strong hybrid EVs.

A) Electric Two-Wheelers

•Price Limit: Rs 2.25 Lakh

•Year 1: Rs 10,000/kWh (maximum ₹30,000)
•Year 2: Rs 6,600/kWh (maximum ₹20,000)
•Year 3: Rs 3,300/kWh (maximum ₹10,000)

B) Electric Three-Wheelers (E-Autos)

•Year 1: Rs 50,000
•Year 2: Rs 40,000
•Year 3: Rs 30,000

C) Electric Goods Vehicle (N1)

•Year 1: Rs 1,00,000
•Year 2: Rs 75,000
•Year 3: Rs 50,000

D) Scrapping Incentive

•Two-Wheeler: Rs 10,000
•Three-Wheeler: Rs 25,000
•Car (≤ ₹30 lakh): Rs 1,00,000
•Goods Vehicle: Rs 50,000

Tax Benefits

•100% exemption on road tax and registration fees for EVs.
•Full exemption for cars up to Rs 30 lakh.
•No exemption for cars above Rs 30 lakh.

Applicable until 31 March 2030 (unless extended or amended).

"In this regard, the public is humbly requested to avoid visiting the office premises, as the same may cause unnecessary crowding. No objections or suggestions received after the expiry of the said period shall be considered," according to the notification.

"The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026-2030 (four years) builds on this momentum to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption, improve air quality, and create a supportive ecosystem for electric mobility. The policy will be applicable from the date of the notification," the notification further said.

The policy aims to accelerate the adoption of EVs across all major vehicle segments; support the installation of a comprehensive public and private charging network across Delhi; enable a robust EV supply chain, including battery recycling, servicing, and component recovery; improve air quality by reducing reliance on Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles; and ensure fiscal efficiency and transparent implementation.
