Bihar New Cabinet: In a major development in the politics of Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to resign from the top post on April 14. With his entry into national politics, the politics of Bihar is expected to go through a significant transition phase. While Bihar is likely to get its first chief minister from the BJP, Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar is also likely to get a key responsibility. Apart from this, several newly elected MLAs of the JDU are also likely to be included in the new cabinet.
Earlier during the formation of government after registering victory in the 2025 Assembly election, eight members of the JDU, along with Nitish Kumar, took the oath as ministers. The senior leaders, including Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary, Leshi Singh, Madan Sahni, Sunil Kumar, and Jama Khan, took an oath as the ministers.
Vijay Kumar Chaudhary holds several key portfolios, including Water Resources, Building Construction, Parliamentary Affairs, and Information and Public Relations. Apart from this, Bijendra Prasad Yadav handles the Departments of Energy, Finance, Commercial Taxes, and Planning and Development. While Shravan Kumar holds the Departments of Rural Development and Transport, Sunil Kumar is in charge of the Departments of Education and Science and Technology.
Several new faces from the JDU won and reached the Legislative Assembly in 2025, including Kumar Pushpanjay from Barbigha, Indradev Singh from Barharia, Samriddh Verma from Sikta, and Sonam Rani Sardar from Triveniganj. Apart from this, Vishal Kumar from Narkatiya, Shweta Gupta from Shivhar, and Nagendra Raut from Sursand were also elected to the state assembly for the first time.
