Jagran Correspondent, Bahraich | In a major twist in a murder case, the woman, who was allegedly killed by her husband, was found alive in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The case filed against the husband for murdering his wife and concealing her body took a shocking turn when the police recovered the alleged deceased during the investigation.

The discovery of the woman alive changed the entire case. The police recovered her and presented her in court, giving a big relief to the accused, who was in jail.

What Was The Matter?

Ganesh, a resident of Patna Ghosiari in the Risiya area, married Gunjana, daughter of Jagdish, a resident of Kuruwari in the Matera area, about 10 years ago. About a year and a half ago, Ganesh went to Kapurthala, Punjab, with his wife to earn a living. On July 27, 2025, his wife disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Husband Filed Missing Case In 2025

The husband filed a complaint at the City Kapurthala police station. A thorough search was conducted, but his wife could not be traced.

Mother-In-Law Files Murder Case

After 10 months, on April 17, 2026, the woman's mother, Kalawati, filed a case against her son-in-law for murder and concealment of the body at the Risia police station, following a court order.

Subsequently, Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava ordered an investigation and action. Senior Sub-Inspector Amitendra Singh, stationed at the Risia police station, was assigned the investigation. During the probe, it came to light that Gunjana had left without informing anyone on July 27, last year. Police, later, found information that the woman was with another man in the Kapurthala area. Following this, she was caught by the police. Police produced her to the district court. Additional Superintendent of Police DP Tiwari stated that the woman has been medically examined and produced in a court.

Police Station Head Karunakar Pandey stated that the woman's mother claimed that after 10 years of marriage, they had no children, and she suspected that her son-in-law had murdered her daughter and hidden her body.

Meanwhile, the husband was accusing his in-laws of having made his wife disappear. However, after the investigation and the woman's recovery, the husband, Ganesh, was proven innocent.
