8th Pay Commission Hike: A major development has emerged regarding the 8th Pay Commission, with the timeline now becoming clearer for millions of central government employees awaiting salary revisions. The commission has entered full action mode and has announced a detailed schedule of meetings to discuss pay structures and allowances.

According to a letter issued by Deputy Secretary Abhay N. Sahay, key discussions with stakeholders will be held in Delhi on April 28, 29, and 30, 2026.

Following this, the commission will travel to Pune, where meetings are scheduled for May 4 and 5, 2026.

The commission has also indicated that similar consultations will be conducted in Mumbai and other states across the country after the Pune meetings.

Stakeholders Can Submit Views

Unions and associations wishing to present their views before the commission are required to submit a memorandum (suggestion document) through the official website: 8cpc.gov.in.

- Last date to request appointments (Delhi & Pune): April 20, 2026

-Last date to submit memorandums: April 30, 2026

8th Pay Commission: Expected Salary Hike

While no official figures have been released by the government, estimates range from a 20 per cent to a 35 per cent increase. The fitment factor is expected to be between 2.4 and 3.0. By comparison, the 6th Pay Commission saw an increase of approximately 40 per cent, and the 7th saw an increase of 23-25 per cent, with a fitment factor of 2.57.

However, the final decision will depend on many factors, such as inflation, the government's financial situation, tax collection, and political circumstances. Therefore, the figures currently being released are only estimates, not guarantees.

8th Pay Commission Announces Consultant Hiring: Salary Up to Rs 1.80 Lakh

To speed up its work, the commission has also announced a large-scale hiring initiative. A total of 20 positions are available, with full-time roles offering salaries of up to Rs 1.80 lakh per month.

1. Senior Consultant: 5 posts

Minimum 10+ years of experience
Maximum age: 45 years

2. Consultant: 5 posts

Minimum 6+ years of experience
Maximum age: 40 years

3. Young Professional: 10 posts

Minimum 4+ years of experience
Maximum age: 32 years
