Delhi EV Policy 2.0: The Delhi government released the first draft of the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 recently. The first draft of the policy promises significant incentives for the purchase of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The draft released by the government also includes electric cars, but the benefits are limited. Notably, it also promises significant benefits for hybrid cars. Let’s take a look at the key takeaways of the Delhi EV Policy 2.0.
Delhi EV Policy 2.0: 2-Wheeler Benefits
Maximum Subsidy: Electric two-wheelers are eligible for maximum benefits and support under the Delhi EV Policy 2.0. The policy will provide maximum benefits of up to Rs 30,000 to new customers of electric two-wheelers in the first year from the date of implementation. In the second and third years, the policy will provide maximum benefits of up to Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
Battery Capacity & Incentives: The incentives offered on any electric two-wheeler will also be subject to the battery capacity of the vehicle. The incentives are capped at Rs 10,000 per kWh for the first year, Rs 6,600 per kWh for the second year, and Rs 3,300 per kWh for the third year. It is worth mentioning that the ex-showroom pricing of the electric two-wheelers should not exceed Rs 2.25 lakh.
Additional Rs 10,000 Incentive: The state government has also made a provision to provide an additional Rs 10,000 scrappage amount to the consumers switching from their ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) two-wheelers.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: 3-Wheeler Benefits
Maximum Benefits: As per the first draft released by the government, the electric three-wheelers will be provided with maximum benefits of up to Rs 50,000 in the first year, Rs 40,000 in the second year, and Rs 30,000 in the third year from the date of implementation of the policy.
Scrappage Incentive: Notably, the state government has also provisioned of providing srappage incentives of up to Rs 25,000 to consumers switching to the new electric vehicles from their old CNG auto rickshaw. It is also worth mentioning that the government has not kept a price cap in the case of electric three-wheelers.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Electric Cars And Benefits
While the first draft of the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 promises to provide significant incentives to the electric two-wheelers and electric three-wheelers, it provides limited benefits to electric cars. The electric car owners will not be provided with any direct benefits or subsidies. However, they can avail free road tax and zero registration fee on their vehicle, if it has an ex-showroom price of up to Rs 30 lakh. It is also worth mentioning that the first 1 lakh customers will be provided with an additional incentive of Rs 1 lakh.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Hybrid Cars And Benefits
As informed earlier, the first draft of the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 also promises benefits for the Hybrid cars. The customers of the Hybrid cars will get a 50 per cent waiver on the road tax and registration fees. However, it is worth noting that the benefits will be provided only on Hybrid cars with an ex-showroom price of up to Rs 30 lakh.
